About the Tour

A visit to the temple town of Melukote. Step back in time to the town that the philosopher-saint Ramanuja put on the map 900 years ago, a town full of beautiful kalyanis and endless pillared corridors, where ponytailed priests fill the streets and where every other house is linked to the temples in some way. It is a town of sun-dappled boulders and hillocks, dramatic vistas, and sacred temples, all of which served as inspiration to one of Karnataka’s most famous poets and playwrights. We will explore all these facets and also visit a small handloom centre.

Lunch will be at a farm just outside the town, and yes, it will include the famous Melukote puliyogare!

• Travel from Bangalore and back on the same day in an air conditioned private coach, 3 hours each way.
